"I really appreciate all the help I got from the extremely friendly and patient staff from Reykjavik Backpackers during my four-day stay. I went to Reykjavik on a long weekend in the summer 2011. First of all, I missed booking the last night of stay (totally my own mistake), and the staff tried their best to find "a bed" by calling every other hostel in town. When no one else had an available "bed" in town, I was allowed to sleep on the couch in the common area (the best possible option I could have in that situation while all the hotels in town charged $280/night) and to use the bathroom facility without being charged! The girl who worked there that night even gave me a cushion as pillow for the couch! The staff also professionally arranged all my day tours and provided very useful information during my stay. The backpackers were great, actually the BEST for information in Reykjavik. They told us absolutely everything we ever needed to know, from best places to hang out and do photo shootings, to sheep and horse gatherings and hitchhiking tips. "First Class - Thank you!" Not only was Reykjavik Backpackers an extremely high standard of accommodation, every staff member went beyond the extra mile for anything I asked. In particular, I left behind some personal items in the bathroom when I left, and when I contacted them after I had returned to England, not only did they (Jon) send me a photo to confirm the items they found were mine, but they returned it all to me first-class post! "Character: the hostel is one of the best i've been in. It has all the conditions, kitchen, a lot of bathrooms, living rooms (where everybody meets), and so on... Security: nothing to worry about Perfect location: Laugavegur is the main street of shopping and souvenir shops and is only 5minutes from almost everything. Staff: perfect in all senses.
